How can facebook, twitter, linked in or any ohter social networking site be used to market and sell a company's products?
Paul,I'm surprised that my earlier comment was not shown, now that I'm checking it again. I think an increasing number of businessed are taking advanage of the viral effects of customers telling friends and others--and so on--of their positive experiences with the firm; of course that works two ways! And, too, firms are letting these social networks broadcast news and events as well...short, sweet, and at minimal expense.

Hi, I thought I would write a response to Paul's question since I work with social media every day. All forms of social media can be used as wonderful outlets to get a company's product noticed. A great example of that is Eddie Bauer's resent launch of their mountaineering line First Ascent. The brand went out with social media first, before even introducing it as a sub brand from EB. The reaction was stellar, the brand is stronger than ever and, if you take a look, you will see the communitee its built, resulting in high sales in a crappy economy.
So, if done right, social media can be a huge asset in marketing a product and engaging a customer. =)
